If you suffer from an endocrine disorder, the endocrinologists (formerly practicing at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center) can provide the specialized treatment you need. They will work together with you to manage your disorder, for better care, a better life, and a better you!
We are a consulting practice, we require our patients to have a primary care provider for their best overall health. If you think that you have an endocrine disorder, please discuss with your primary care provider prior to making an appointment. Your primary care provider can order the preliminary tests and we will contact your primary care provider for those tests prior to your visit. We want your first visit with us to be productive!
If you have diabetes, we recommend that our new patients attend diabetes education for the best self-management outcomes. Diabetes requires participation on part of the patient for success. When patients attend diabetes education, they receive the tools for success.
MedStar endocrine specialists are committed to better understanding and treating endocrine disorders. The endocrine system is comprised of major glands—including the thyroid, adrenal, pancreas, parathyroid, and pituitary glands—that produce hormones—such as insulin, thyroid hormone, parathyroid hormone, cortisol, testosterone, estrogen, and prolactin—which travel in the bloodstream to tissues or organs to affect body processes.
These hormones are instrumental in:
- Sexual function
When the endocrine glands are not working properly, by either producing too much or too little of a certain hormone, other parts of the body can’t perform well, which can have drastic and varied effects on the way a person feels.
Read more about the following endocrine conditions our specialists treat. If you think you have such a disorder, schedule an appointment with a diabetes and endocrinology specialist who will develop an individualized treatment plan.
