Researchers Publish on Racial Gap in Medicaid Expansion

Led by Waddah B. Al-Refaie, MD, FACS, researchers from the MedStar Georgetown Surgical Outcomes Research Center and Georgetown University have found that the expansion of the New York State Medicaid in 2001 widened the racial disparity gap when it came to access to high-quality hospitals for cancer surgery.
