Infusion Treatment Center at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital

Supporting our infusion center patients and families

The newly renovated Infusion Treatment Center at MedStar Georgetown advances medicine and offers lifesaving chemotherapy and blood therapy to the communities we serve. Patients with cancer, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and lupus are among those who rely on treatment at the center. Carefully designed details provide privacy, tranquility, and comfort to align with the highly personalized nursing care delivered to each and every patient.

MedStar Health has invested $5 million in the renovation of the Infusion Treatment Center to provide a more patient-centered experience with the following priorities:

  • Patient privacy: 47 private treatment bays with glass sliding doors create a more tranquil environment for patients.
  • A patient-centric environment: A comfortable reception area with ample seating accommodates a stress-free and efficient start to each patient’s treatment.
  • Deeper integration of technology: State-of-the-art equipment and bedside use of portable and compact medical equipment enables nurses and clinicians to access the resources they need while maintaining a restful and comfortable atmosphere for patients.
  • Improved patient experience: Natural light, comfortable furnishings, and design features promote a healing environment for all.

The Infusion Treatment Center supports research and clinical trials along with traditional treatments. Our clinicians gain valuable insights and make critical breakthroughs that ultimately translate to increasingly effective medicine for patients in Washington, D.C., and throughout the world. About 4,000 patients participate annually in a variety of clinical trials at MedStar Georgetown. Our clinical trials offer the hope of life-changing therapy and opportunities to contribute to curing cancer and other diseases. Patients participating in the trials inspire others through their courage and support of medical science.

Of the 47 private bays within the center, 19 bays will be dedicated to clinical trials and research. Patients who volunteer to participate will help our care teams find better ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases.

The clinical bays dedicated to this lifesaving work are slated for phase II of the renovation. Today’s philanthropic support advances the pace of phase II, enabling MedStar Georgetown to address the facility needs more quickly for clinical trials.

By partnering with MedStar Georgetown to support our exceptional new Infusion Treatment Center, you won’t just help us meet the needs of today’s patients. You will also uplift our ability to provide the highest quality treatment for decades to come.

“When you come here, we try to put our arms around you. We want you to know that you are safe. And we want you to know that no matter what, you’re our most important priority inat that moment. That’s business as usual here.”
