    Established to honor Margery E. Zylich for her exceptional work in the field of healthcare communications, the Margery E. Zylich Communication Fund provides education and professional development in the communication field for associates across the MedStar Health system. Margery served as vice president of Operational Communications and chief of staff for MedStar Health, one of the nation's top, integrated healthcare delivery systems, and helped shape Maryland and the Washington, D.C., region's healthcare landscape as the trusted communication counsel for MedStar Health's President and CEO, and Leadership Team.

The annual Power to Heal Campaign offers the opportunity to join in celebrating a growing culture of gratitude at MedStar Health through a gift in honor of a colleague, friend, or caregiver.


General Volunteer Requirements

  • Be at least 17 years old and not in high school
  • Commit to a minimum of 100 hours a year (4 hours per week)
  • Submit all application materials on time
  • Interview with a member of our Volunteer Services Department 
  • Complete Occupational Health clearance
  • Pass a background check
  • Attend a General Volunteer Orientation session
  • Specialized Program-based Orientation (if applicable)
