About me
Caitlin Zarick, DPM, is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon. Fellowship trained in diabetic limb salvage, she specializes in the medical, surgical, and advanced treatment of lower leg, foot, and ankle conditions. She also is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Dr. Zarick is committed to compassionately caring for the whole patient. She begins initial appointments by carefully evaluating medical histories and patiently discussing health goals. Her evaluation process may even include referrals to experienced radiologists, infectious disease specialists, or vascular surgeons who are equally devoted to addressing patients’ comfort and wellness. Dr. Zarick then develops comprehensive and personalized care plans with evidence-based treatment options ranging from conservative management to advanced minimally invasive surgeries.
She is dedicated to strengthening the field of podiatric surgery. As an assistant program director of the podiatric surgery residency program at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, she is passionate about training newly graduated physicians. She also co-authored numerous publications that have expanded the understanding of diabetes-related wounds, ulcers, infections, and amputations. Moreover, her research centers on improving diabetic limb-salvage care to more effectively treat–or even prevent–amputations and ulcerations. Referring physicians should know that Dr. Zarick will keep them well informed about their patients who will receive top-notch care.
Philosophy of Care
“My approach to care is to appreciate patients’ uniqueness, which means taking the time to get to know them. I then provide personalized services that address their specific physical, mental, and social wellness needs. From identifying the most effective non-surgical treatment options to ensuring successful surgical outcomes, I’m inspired to help patients get the best possible health care and live their best possible quality of life.”
