John S. Foley, MD, Orthopedic Hand Surgeon, joined MedStar Orthopaedic Institute at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center in 2019. He is an experienced orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hand, wrist, and forearm surgery. He has special interest in arthritic and inflammatory conditions of the hand and wrist, and in nerve compression disorders, including carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome. Dr. Foley received his medical degree from New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY. He did his orthopedic surgery residency at SUNY Downstate, Brooklyn, NY, and a hand surgery fellowship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, New York, NY.

Outside of work, Dr. Foley says, “I enjoy skiing, reading, travel, movies and exploring our new neighborhood with my family."

    Just saying I have pain first and that Is why I need an X-ray without asking me how I am doing is jumping the gun. Ask the patient first is the only policy. My father was a doctor.
