Dr. Nguyen is the surgical director of living donor liver transplant, and a board-certified, fellowship-trained abdominal transplant and hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) surgeon. His areas of special expertise include liver and small bowel transplantation and HPB surgery. His areas of clinical interest include pancreas cancer, pancreatic cysts, liver tumors, and biliary disease. He is particularly interested in minimally invasive HPB surgery, utilizing Da Vinci Surgical system.

He holds certifications in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, with use of the Da Vinci Surgical System.

Dr. Nguyen has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including Transplantation Direct, Journal of American College of Surgeons, Journal of Critical Care, American Journal of Transplantation, and Gastroenterology and has presented at national conferences and symposia.

Dr. Nguyen received his Doctor of Medicine from Saint Louis University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO and completed his residency at University of Southern California/LAC+USC General Surgery in Los Angeles, where he received the program’s Outstanding Resident Award. He completed his fellowship in abdominal transplant at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

He works closely with all of his patients to ensure they’re actively involved in decisions about their care. Dr. Nguyen also educates patients about their condition so they have the knowledge and understanding they need to continue to manage their condition throughout their lives.

When he’s not at work, Dr. Nguyen enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors, and going to the beach.
