About me
Dr. Henn is the D’Aniello Family Vice Chair of Quality and Safety of the MedStar Orthopaedic Institute and practices at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Lafayette Centre. He is a highly skilled, board certified orthopedic hand and upper extremity surgeon, who also holds a Subspecialty Certificate in Surgery of the Hand from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He specializes in the care of any condition affecting the hand and wrist, forearm or elbow. He offers a complete range of surgical skills including arthroscopic, minimally invasive and microsurgical techniques.
Dr. Henn graduated magna cum laude with honors in biochemistry from Brown University, where he was awarded the Susan Colver Rosenberger Senior Prize in Biology. He earned his medical degree from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He was also awarded the Henry Thomas Randall Prize, given to the most outstanding medical graduate pursuing a surgical specialty. Dr. Henn completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, where he was awarded the Jean C. McDaniel Award, which recognizes a graduating resident for professional skill, dedication to ethics, and commitment to resident education. Dr. Henn then completed the Orthopaedic Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship at Washington University/Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He is a professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Georgetown University School of Medicine and has been awarded the Kenmore Teaching Award the orthopaedic surgery chief residents.
Dr. Henn has published several scientific articles and chapters and has presented his work at annual meetings of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Association, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, Orthopaedic Research Society, Eastern Orthopaedic Association, and Pediatric Society of North America. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and of the American Orthopaedic Association. He is also an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, serving on several committees.
Dr. Henn's Philosophy of Care
Dr. Henn is dedicated to providing the best possible care, while maintaining a relaxed environment for his patients. He believes it is important to take the time to listen to each patient and then encourages him or her to take part in the decision-making process. He treats many conditions of the hand and upper extremity without surgery when possible. If surgery is necessary, he guides patients before and after their procedure to ensure they achieve the maximal benefit and recover to their full potential.
