About me
Daniel W. Griffin, MD, is a fellowship-trained and board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in total joint replacement and complex revision procedures of the hip and knee. Committed to tailoring care to the individualized needs of each patient, he is trained to utilize innovative technologies such as robotics and navigation, and offers muscle sparing and minimally invasive surgical approaches including direct anterior, posterior, and anterolateral approaches for hip replacement. Additionally, Dr. Griffin offers partial knee replacements and joint preservation surgical options for patients diagnosed with osteonecrosis, including core decompression and bone grafting. He has a specialized interest in the diagnosis and treatment of prosthetic joint infections and advocates for non-opioid pain relief. Dr. Griffin sees children (age 5+) and adults with a diverse range of orthopedic injuries and chronic issues. He gets to know each patient on a personal level, accounting for their hobbies, lifestyles, and long-term care goals as he is making treatment recommendations. He advocates for shared decision making as patients and their families pursue orthopedic care, with focus on optimizing the processes and recovery and healing, and giving people the guidance and tools needed live life to the fullest—without pain.
Dr. Griffin served as an orthopedic surgeon in the U.S. Navy for many years, during which time he cared for patients at home in the United States as well as overseas in Guam and Spain. These clinical and leadership experiences built the foundation for his work as a surgeon dedicated to restoring function and achieving meaningful recovery after surgery.
Well respected for the depth and breadth of his clinical experience, Dr. Griffin has published content in multiple peer-reviewed journals and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons.
