About me

Deborah A. Hoy, MD, MDiv, is a neonatologist dedicated to the care of newborn infants who need specialized attention due to critical illness or premature birth. In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Hoy is also the medical director of Neonatal Transport and the director of the Neonatal Follow-up Clinic at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

Dr. Hoy embraces MedStar Georgetown's philosophy of caring for the whole patient and family. That philosophy enables her to provide care for newborns with critical needs and also spend significant time with parents, helping them navigate their child's care during and after the hospital stay. Focused on providing evidence-based, leading-edge care, Dr. Hoy also participates in research.

Caring for infants and their families is both career and ministry for Dr. Hoy, who holds a master's of divinity and is an ordained pastor. She spends up to two months per year caring for patients and providing education in the Caribbean and South Africa. She also works with clergy in the Washington, DC, area, teaching them how to talk about HIV/AIDS in their congregations. In addition, she serves on the board for the Washington Regional Transplant Community and is active in educating the community about organ donation.

Dr. Hoy is fabulous! She spends more time with us than provider I've ever been to. Not only is she incredibly competent, but you can tell she truly cares about her patients and the well being of their entire family!
