About me
Katherine W. Power, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained physical medicine and rehabilitation physician at MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute at MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital. As a specialist in cancer rehabilitation, she helps patients improve or restore physical function after oncology treatments.
Dr. Power’s approach to care centers on maximizing patients’ quality of life by reducing or eliminating side effects caused by cancer treatments. She begins by reviewing medical histories, performing physical exams, and ordering diagnostic tests. She then develops comprehensive healing plans to enhance their comfort and recovery. These plans include therapies ranging from joint injections to nerve blockers.
Dr. Power is dedicated to advancing the field of cancer rehabilitation to help more people receive timely and effective therapies during and after cancer care. Her specific research interests focus on improving function and minimizing symptoms in patients diagnosed with cancer. Referring physicians should know that she is committed to offering personalized services that address impairments caused by oncology treatments while optimizing outcomes.
