About me
Matthew T. Morris, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon who provides comprehensive care for patients with disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. He treats a wide variety of spinal conditions, including chronic back or neck pain, complex deformities, and spinal cord compression. He also cares for patients who experience spinal cord injuries as a result of traumatic events. Dr. Morris’ goal is to help patients relieve pain, restore function, and return to the highest possible quality of life.
Dr. Morris advocates for conservative clinical approaches—often recommending medication, physical therapy, and other nonsurgical options as a first step in a patient’s plan of care. When surgery is deemed necessary, he leverages motion-preserving and minimally-invasive techniques whenever possible, to help reduce the physiologic impact of surgery and to support a smoother recovery.
A strong patient–physician relationship is central to Dr. Morris’ philosophy of care. He takes time to ensure each patient fully understands their diagnosis, the full range of treatment options available, and the reasoning behind his clinical recommendations. Dr. Morris believes strongly in the importance of shared decision-making, viewing each patient as an active partner and the “driver” of their own care plan. He speaks both English and Spanish.
