About me
Michael Fabrizio, MD, FACS is a board-certified urologist with over 26 years of experience in minimally invasive urology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Health Medical Center at Lafayette Centre. Fellowship-trained in endourology, robotics, and laparoscopy, he specializes in minimally invasive treatments for complex conditions, including advanced prostate and kidney cancer, adrenal surgery, kidney donation, and kidney and ureteral stone disease.
A recognized pioneer in robotic and laparoscopic surgery, Dr. Fabrizio was an early adopter of robotic technologies and participated in the FDA trials for the Zeus Robotic system. His other contributions include creating one of the first laparoscopic radical prostatectomy programs in the country, a robotic-assisted prostatectomy program, and a laparoscopic kidney donor program. Committed to training the next generation of surgeons in minimally invasive techniques, he started a fellowship in endourology and laparoscopy, where 16 fellows and over 50 residents have been trained. His research interests include telemedicine, telesurgery, and advanced prostate cancer.
