Preetham Kumar, MD, is a Cardiologist at the Heart and Vascular Institute at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Dr. Kumar is the Director of Echocardiography Laboratory and Interventional Echocardiography.
Dr. Kumar underwent cardiovascular diseases fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida and Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging and Structural Echocardiography fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona.His residency training was at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bangalore in India; Coventry & Leicester, United Kingdom and SJHMC, Michigan, USA. He received his medical degree from Bangalore University in India.
Dr. Kumar’s prior training in Cardiovascular imaging, Internal medicine and Psychiatry have created a foundation for his cardiology practice, which combines advanced cardiac imaging during complex cardiac interventions with patient centered clinical practice that is delivered with clarity and emphasis on listening and understanding patient needs with empathy.
