About me

Salman M. Malik, MD, is a cardiologist practicing at MedStar Health in Glen Burnie, Maryland. He is board-certified in cardiovascular disease. Dr. Malik is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society.

Dr. Malik completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in biology.  He then completed his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine. Dr. Malik completed his internal medicine residency, cardiovascular disease fellowship, and subspeciality fellowship in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at Drexel University College of Medicine.

He commonly sees patients with the full range of cardiovascular conditions, and offers diagnostic and imaging expertise, with the use of echocardiography and nuclear stress testing. Dr. Malik has a special interest and advanced training in arrhythmia evaluation and management. His clinic provides support for patients with pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators.

In his practice, Dr. Malik prioritizes informed decision-making. When determining a treatment plan, he walks each patient through the risks and benefits of all their options—from lifestyle modifications, medical therapy, and when needed, more invasive treatments. He positions them to engage in monitoring their own cardiovascular status using simple parameters, such as exercise tolerance, blood pressure readings, and rhythm monitoring with the goal of improving their quality of life as well as longevity.

“I treat my patients like I would treat my family members or how I would like to be treated. For much of my life, since I was a collegiate rower at the University of Pennsylvania, I have been an active participant in rowing/crew. It's the ultimate team sport—everyone has to be synchronized and on the same page. That's how I approach the care of my patients. When we all work together—patients, families, and physicians- we achieve the best outcomes.” —Salman M. Malik, MD

Outside his cardiology practice, Dr. Malik enjoys rowing, tennis, and international travel.
