Lois Kamugisha, MD, is an attending physician in Medical Oncology and Hematology at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital. Her previous experience includes service as an attending physician, specializing in medical oncology and hematology, at the Daniel Boone Clinic in Harlan, KY. In addition, she has volunteered at MedShare International.
Dr. Kamugisha is a member of the American Medical Association and an associate member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. She is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology and hematology. Her research has been published in the Journal of the National Medical Association, the Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine, and Sarcoidosis Vasculitis and Diffuse Lung Disease.
Her MBBS degree is from the University of the West Indies, Barbados. She completed an internship at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown, Barbados. She continued her training with a residency in internal medicine, including service as a chief resident, at the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta. She then completed a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at MedStar Washington Hospital Center/MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
