MedStar Health Opens Urgent Care Center in Capitol Hill

WASHINGTON, D.C., February 24, 2014 – MedStar Health, the largest healthcare provider in Maryland, and the Washington, D.C., region is opening its seventh MedStar Health Urgent Care urgent care center, a 4,000- square-foot facility at 228 7th St, Southeast, in Washington, D.C., The center’s operating hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends. The center is staffed by emergency and family medicine specialists, who can care for injuries and illnesses that are not life threatening.

“We are very pleased to bring our urgent care services to this community,” said Bob Gilbert, president of MedStar Ambulatory Services, “This new facility is another demonstration of our commitment to delivering quality healthcare services close to where people live and work. We will continue to assess where there is a need for this type of care and make it accessible to residents in Washington, D.C.,”

MedStar Health Urgent Care provides convenient access to medical care for all ages with day, evening, and weekend hours. Physicians are always on site.

Individuals experiencing life-threatening symptoms should call 911 immediately. As part of the MedStar Health system of care, the center is connected to MedStar’s electronic health record (EHR), which means doctors can access a patient’s current health information from any other hospital or physician office that is on the MedStar EHR.
