About me
Alexis Anne Dieter, MD, is a board-certified urogynecologist at the National Center for Advanced Pelvic Surgery. She is the Director of Research for the Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery and an Associate Professor of Ob/Gyn and Urology at Georgetown University School of Medicine.
In her busy clinical practice, Dr. Dieter works with women of all different ages to diagnose, manage, and treat their pelvic floor disorders (such as prolapse and incontinence). She offers a wide variety of treatment options that cater to the individual needs of her patients and is an expert surgeon trained in minimally invasive surgery and the Da Vinci® robotic surgery system.
Dedicated to advancing the field of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, Dr. Dieter is an accomplished researcher whose research interests include overactive bladder syndrome, pelvic organ prolapse, stress urinary incontinence, and how to optimize surgical outcomes and the patient perioperative experience.

Dr. Dieter is board-certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. She received her undergraduate degree from MIT and her medical degree from Columbia University. She completed her internship in Obstetrics & Gynecology at New York University, and then completed her residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology and an additional 3-year subspecialty fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery at Duke University. After completing her training, she was on the faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before joining MedStar in 2020.

"My philosophy of care is grounded in my belief that everyone deserves a life that is fulfilling and rewarding. I became a Urogynecologist so that I could help women regain their quality of life and be able to focus on what matters to them most.
