- Duane R. Monteith, MD, FACS, Regional Chief of Thoracic Surgery, cares for patients at the Angelos Center for Lung Diseases at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center.
- While he treats a wide range of pulmonary illnesses and related conditions, he is particularly interested in thoracic cancers.
- Board certified in thoracic as well as cardiac surgery, Dr. Monteith specializes in the treatment of conditions that include lung cancer, esophageal diseases, both benign and malignant, and mediastinal tumors.
- He has extensive experience performing minimally invasive procedures including robotic thoracic surgery and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS).
Certifications and associations
Dr. Monteith is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the Society of Robotic Surgery, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, to name a few. During his career, he has made numerous presentations to a diverse range of audiences, many focusing on lung cancer diagnosis and treatment, and has been recognized with several awards for his efforts.
