About me
Maen Farha, MD, FACS, is medical director of the Breast Center at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of malignant and benign breast conditions, applying the latest technologies and approaches to care. Dr. Farha is an active participant in MedStar Health’s multidisciplinary tumor board meetings, where he collaborates with diagnostic specialists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, and other specialists to fully assess each patient’s imaging and determine the best course of action to optimize clinical outcomes.
Dr. Farha has extensive experience performing sentinel lymph node biopsies as well as minimally invasive breast biopsy procedures. Additionally, he offers state-of-the-art breast conserving surgery, intraoperative radiation therapy, and accelerated partial breast radiation. Dr. Farha also assures patients at the Breast Center have access to the latest clinical trials.
Dr. Farha is board certified in surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Recognized as one of the most experienced breast specialists in the region, he has been named a “Top Doctor” by Baltimore magazine seven times.
Dr. Farha’s philosophy of care
“Breast cancer is highly-curable especially when detected early. The process of diagnosis and treatment can be stressful for patients and their loved ones. Our team tends to the needs of the person as a whole - as much as we focus on the cancer treatment. Our philosophy is built on supporting the patient and their loved ones with education, compassion, and other forms of support. Patient treatment plans are designed through multispecialty teamwork at our tumor board conferences as well as at our multidisciplinary breast cancer clinic. Together, these approaches allow us to streamline the process of care for patients and keep communication lines open and effective for our team.”
