About me
Raina Wallace Sola, MD, is an Acute Care Surgeon who is part of MedStar Health’s Integrated Surgical Service Line, serving the healthcare system’s four hospitals located in the Baltimore metropolitan area. She specializes in general surgical care for patients with urgent, acute medical needs—many of whom come into the hospital emergency room requiring surgical intervention the same day. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Wallace Sola earned her medical degree at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she also completed an internship in the department of surgery. Her training concluded with a clinical residency at Nassau University Medical Center, with continued focus on surgery and an appointment as a research fellow in the hospital’s Level I Trauma Center Registry. Her clinical and research efforts made her an active contributor to numerous industry professional publications, presentations and lectures, and abstracts, while in training.
Dr. Wallace Sola emphasizes the importance of effective communication, compassion, and empathy, in working with surgical patients and their families. She is a strong advocate for patient education, and takes the time to assure her patients understand their diagnosis, why surgical intervention is recommended, and what can be expected prior to, during, and following surgical procedures.
Philosophy of care
“A great level of gratification comes with the knowledge that I can help someone who is in pain or suffering, immediately, through my work in the operating room. I am excited for the opportunity to help MedStar Health build and grow its acute care surgery program by working with patients and a multidisciplinary team of surgeons at all four Baltimore-based hospitals.” —Raina Wallace Sola, MD
