At the MedStar Breast Health Program at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital, our goal is to provide every patient with the individualized care and attention that leads to the best outcomes. As part of the MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute, every patient who walks through our doors can feel confident that our breast health program offers the latest technology and treatments, administered by a caring and knowledgeable team of experts.
The first healthcare facility in the Southern Maryland area to be recognized by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a quality program administered by the American College of Surgeons, we take a multidisciplinary team approach to care, providing patients with treatment plans that are designed to address their specific needs and circumstances.
Patients have access to comprehensive care, including a complete range of state-of-the-art services and equipment, information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options, and access to prevention and early detection programs, cancer education, and support services.

As part of MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute, the MedStar Breast Health Program at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center continuously meets the rigorous standards that are required to earn recognition from some of the nation’s most highly regarded accrediting bodies. This includes:
- Accreditation with Commendation from the American College of Surgeons Committee on Cancer
- Certification from the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative program
- Full accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers
- Accreditation from the American College of Radiology
