The Health Information Management department fills requests for the release of information related to your medical records.
Our staff is happy to assist you in obtaining your records upon receiving a valid authorization. Please contact 410-350-3200 for more information about getting your records, or you can request them through the my MedStar patient portal.
The myMedStar patient portal contains patient information from all MedStar Health facilities, excluding MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. You can use it to:
- View and schedule appointments
- Review test results
- Communicate with your provider
- Renew prescriptions
- Access your health records

For current users:
Billing, insurance, and financial assistance
Our Patient Financial Services Team can answer questions about your medical bill, your insurer's payments, and your co-pay/deductible. We can also explain your option for financial assistance.
We will try to secure payment from your insurance provider in a timely fashion. If we do not receive payment from your insurance provider, the Patient Accounting department will contact them directly to check the status of your account. Unless other payment arrangements were made prior to treatment, you will be expected to pay for all charges not covered by insurance. Please check with your insurance company directly if you have questions about your coverage.
Please note that your hospital bill and the bill from your physician will be separate.
