The Department of Biostatistics and Biomedical Informatics provides statistical consultation and data management support to intramural as well as extramural clinical and epidemiological research activities.

A consultation is provided free of charge to MedStar researchers who are preparing research proposals or grant applications for funding. We charge on a fee-for-service basis for other statistical consulting needs.
Graduate Medical Education Support
Statistical support is available to all MedStar residents and fellows for retrospective chart reviews, prospective clinical studies, basic laboratory studies, and econometric studies. This service provides up to 30 hours of statistical support to residents and fellows at no cost through MedStar Graduate Medical Education support and funding.
To help residents and fellows navigate the research process from conception to publication, we also offer support in research design, refinement of research ideas, specification of aims and hypotheses, selection of data collection methods, sample size calculations, statistical analysis planning, data extraction from electronic health records, data analysis, results reporting, and abstract and manuscript publication.
