About me
Tamika Christiana Auguste, MD, FACOG, is the Physician Executive Director of the Women’s Health Service Line at MedStar Health, the Chairwoman of the Women’s and Infants’ Services at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, and a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Georgetown University School of Medicine. A board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, she sees patients at MedStar Washington Hospital Center for routine OB-GYN care.
As a leader in women’s healthcare, Dr. Auguste is dedicated to ensuring that MedStar Health provides women and their children the highest-quality care. Her goal is to offer patients full-scope services, evidence-based treatments, and cutting-edge resources based on the community's needs.
Dr. Auguste is active in legislative issues concerning women’s health, education, reproductive rights, and patient safety. She works with national organizations, legislators, insurance companies, and community leaders to ensure that women have full reproductive rights and receive the care they need.
During her clinical hours, Dr. Auguste treats patients for the full range of OB-GYN care, including high-risk obstetrics, full scope reproductive care, family planning, and fibroid management. She performs vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, in-office gynecologic procedures, contraception, and larger surgical gynecological procedures. Her warm manner and extensive experience make her patients feel safe and in good hands.
Dr. Auguste has been in the Washington, D.C., area for over 20 years and completed her medical training, internship, and residency at Georgetown University.
Throughout her career, Dr. Auguste has been known for her dedication to clinical excellence, leadership, and community service. Richardson Award as ACOG District IV’s Outstanding Faculty and the Founder’s Day Award from Georgetown University School of Medicine.
She also received a Medical Alumni Award and was selected as a MedStar Physician Leader of the Future. Her commitment to interdisciplinary care earned her the Nurses’ Choice Physician Collaboration Award at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
Dr. Auguste is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and an active member of the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics, the Society for Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Society of Simulation in Healthcare.
Philosophy of Care
"As a leader in growing women’s health and education, I am dedicated to providing health equity to every woman and child. It is my mission to advocate for women’s health across the country. We all need to work together–physicians, hospitals, insurance companies, legislators–to ensure everyone gets the medical care they need.
“As a physician, I believe in using every tool modern medicine offers—cutting-edge treatments, surgeries, and advanced therapies—while also honoring the vital role of spirituality in healing. Whether through prayer, hope, or simply positive energy, I’ve seen how deeply it matters. Though I’m a scientist at heart, I embrace both the physical and spiritual dimensions of care.
“I will work relentlessly for my patients, never giving up on finding answers or walking alongside them when answers aren't clear. My patients’ struggles are not foreign to me; they mirror the experiences of my own family. I hope they feel heard, cared for, and confident in my knowledge. Above all, I want them to know they are in good hands.”
