The site is the third MedStar Health Urgent Care location in the county.
LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — MedStar Health’s newest urgent care location in the Great Mills community of Lexington Park, St. Mary’s County is now open to the public. The site, located directly across from Great Mills High School, joins locations in California and Charlotte Hall as the county’s third MedStar Health Urgent Care center. It is the 34th urgent care systemwide spanning Maryland, Washington, D.C., and northern Virginia.
The more than 3,300 sq. ft. square space at 45870 East Run Dr., Suite 102, Lexington Park, MD, 20653 includes eight exam rooms, one X-ray room, one lab space, and two areas for monitoring vital signs. The care site is conveniently located only five minutes from the Patuxent Naval Air Station and 20 minutes from MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown.
Specialized services include:

- Online check-in; walk-in patients accepted.
- Full body X-rays and on-site interpretation.

Free, ample parking is available on-site outside of the building, which also houses a MedStar Health Primary Care office in the same suite. On weekdays, Women’s Health providers from the primary care office will see patients in some urgent care exam rooms to provide more timely care. However, these services must be scheduled separately.
At a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the new site, MedStar Health leaders were joined by St. Mary’s County representatives including Commissioner Scott Ostrow, Dept. of Health Deputy Health Officer Stephanie Harper, MD, and Dept. of Health Director of Clinical Services Alicia Nelson, RN.
“We are proud to be offering St. Mary’s County another option for high-quality care with the opening of our Great Mills urgent care location,” said B. Elizabeth Delasobera, MD, vice president and chief medical officer of MedStar Health Ambulatory Services. “As we continue to grow as a trusted healthcare leader in the county, we are able to leverage our wide variety of available services to create even more accessible and convenient care opportunities for St. Mary’s residents.”
"It is so fantastic to have yet another urgent care here in our county, but most importantly in this Lexington Park/Great Mills Road area,” Ostrow said. “Healthcare is a bit of a desert here. This is so very badly needed for this community."
All 34 MedStar Health Urgent Care locations are open seven days a week, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and serve diverse populations, from young children to seniors. MedStar Health Urgent Care accepts most private insurance as well as in-state Medicaid and Medicare, supplemental insurance, and self-pay patients. Patients also have access to a secure patient portal to view lab results and X-ray images.
