Nicole Sakla, DO is a dual certified women's imaging specialist at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

She earned her medical degree from Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, an institution recognized for its holistic approach to patient care. She subsequently completed her diagnostic radiology residency at Rutgers/RWJ Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey where she distinguished herself as Chief resident and was awarded for her unwavering service on the medical floors during the COVID pandemic. Dr. Sakla then pursued subspecialty fellowship training in both breast and advanced body imaging with a focus on women's health at Georgetown University Medical Center, further refining her expertise in cancer detection and precision diagnostics.

Dr. Sakla routinely performs image-guided procedures including ultrasound, stereotactic, and MRI guided core needle biopsies and is proficient in the full spectrum of diagnostic breast imaging modalities. She maintains her diagnostic abilities across multiple imaging disciplines. The scope of her practice ranges from routine screening to highly complex medical cases.

Dr. Sakla has an extensive background in medical research with publications ranging from artificial intelligence applications for early breast cancer detection/treatment to improved characterization and detection of neural tumors through the use of radiomics/radiogenomics. She has been published in some of the most prestigious high impact medical and artificial intelligence journals including Nature and Medical Image Analysis. Dr. Sakla's research underscores her commitment to enhancing patient outcomes through medical innovation and ensuring that such innovations ultimately lead to more effective and individualized therapies for the patients she serves.
