Dr. Choi is a hematologist and medical oncologist specializing in blood disorders and solid tumors. Patients often come to him when a diagnosis is unclear, a condition is changing, or a second opinion could help them feel more prepared for the decisions ahead. He provides comprehensive, compassionate guidance that brings an expert perspective to complex medical questions while keeping each patient’s goals and quality of life at the center.

Dr. Choi’s experience spans many types of disorders, which can be important when symptoms, test results, or treatment questions call for a thorough evaluation. His broad experience supports care for:

• Solid tumors: Lung, breast, prostate, kidney, bladder, and other cancers
• Gastrointestinal cancers: Colorectal, pancreatic, and esophageal cancers
• Lymphomas: Blood cancers that can affect lymph nodes and other parts of the body
• Plasma cell disorders: Abnormal blood proteins, including monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) and multiple myeloma
• Bleeding and clotting disorders: Easy bruising, unusual bleeding, or blood clots
• Blood count disorders: Anemia, iron deficiency, low platelets, and high blood cell counts

Dr. Choi begins by reviewing the patient’s symptoms and medical background. He listens to what has changed over time and what the patient hopes to better understand. He looks for clinical details that may help clarify the diagnosis and shape a plan and treatment goals. Dr. Choi also explains whether additional evaluation may be helpful. As appropriate, options may include molecular profiling, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, transfusion support, survivorship planning, or clinical trial consideration—broadening the possibilities for more precise, individualized care.

Dr. Choi believes medical decisions are personal as well as clinical. When a new finding or treatment choice raises uncertainty, he creates space for patients to ask questions, name concerns, and understand the road ahead. By learning what shapes a patient’s priorities, he can connect medical evidence with recommendations that are practical, meaningful, and responsive to individual circumstances.

Education & Training

Dr. Choi earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College, Albany, New York, followed by an internal medicine residency at Boston University Medical Center and fellowship training at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. He also served as an instructor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and Boston University School of Medicine.

His research spans a range of oncology topics, including gastrointestinal cancers and early-onset colorectal cancer, with peer-reviewed publications that support an evidence-based approach to complex diagnosis and real-world clinical outcomes.
