About me
Mahsa Mohebtash, MD, serves as the Medical Director of MedStar Health Community Oncology overseeing oncology care at eight MedStar Health locations in Maryland. A board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist, she specializes in providing comprehensive care for patients diagnosed with various types of cancers, with a particular focus on breast, lung, and colorectal malignancies.

Currently, she serves as a member of the joint Board of Directors for both MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital and MedStar Union Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Mohebtash leads a variety of clinical trials across different tumor types and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, including surgical oncologists and radiation oncologists, within the MedStar Health system. Her primary objective is to design personalized care plans for each patient, emphasizing the optimization of their quality of life and long-term favorable clinical outcomes.
Dr. Mohebtash earned her medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences and completed her internal medicine residency program at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. Her training concluded with a fellowship in medical oncology and hematology at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health. Joining MedStar Health as an oncologist in 2009, she has actively engaged with various medical societies and professional organizations. With over 40 publications and abstracts, she continues to contribute to the filed through active participation in several clinical trials.
Consistently recognized for her contributions, Baltimore magazine has named Dr. Mohebtash to its annual "Top Doctors" listing in the fields of medical oncology, breast cancer oncology, and hematology every year since 2015.
Dr. Mohebtash’ s Philosophy of Care
“It has been a privilege to care for numerous cancer patients throughout the years. The relationship shaped between a patient and an oncologist is extensive, profound, and highly personal. In today's medical landscape, patients have a multitude of treatment options compared to two decades ago. I dedicate time to elucidate these options, along with their respective pros and cons, ensuring that my patients comprehend the information and can make well-informed decisions.
I strongly advocate for personalized care, emphasizing the necessity of tailoring treatment plans to meet each patient's unique needs. This approach considers not only the medical aspects but also addresses the emotional and social needs of every individual. While recognizing that not all cancers can be cured, my commitment is unwavering in the hope that I can help each and every patient."
