Kevin Spence

Kevin Spence provides strategic leadership and programmatic oversight for MedStar Health’s Digital Transformation portfolio as vice president of Digital Transformation and Enterprise Access Programs and Strategy. In this role, he partners with operational leaders across the organization to improve patient access to care, optimize workflows through the application of digital solutions, and align programs across the system to deliver a best-in-class patient-centered experience.

Since joining MedStar Health in 2017, Kevin has focused on instilling process improvement principles and introducing programmatic discipline to drive transformational change. He established the Enterprise Access program under the leadership of the chief digital transformation officer and chaired a committee responsible for coordinating and governing access initiatives across the system. As a member of the AI Center of Excellence and co-chair of the AI Review Board (AIRB), he draws on this experience to balance the inherent risks and opportunities associated with leveraging AI, with a focus on its transformative impact on patients and associates.

Prior to joining MedStar Health, Kevin worked as a management consultant supporting both public and private sector clients on their transformation journeys. His work included the assessment and adoption of security technologies, the implementation of innovative acquisition practices, and the development of consistent federal emergency-response guidance and procedures. He holds an MBA from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University.
