Advanced imaging technology promotes unprecedented precision in prostate biopsy
MedStar Health can now identify and analyze suspicious prostate lesions with heightened precision and less trauma to the patient with the UroNav® Fusion Biopsy System image-guided biopsy.
UroNav fuses pre-biopsy MRIs of the prostate with ultrasound-guided biopsy images in real time for greater visualization and enhanced accuracy. Electronic tracking on the probe lets UroNav maintain imaging integrity even with patient movement. Among the benefits to patients, the biopsy system’s precision means fewer tissue samples are needed, reducing the risk of infections, bleeding, pain, and recovery time.
Primary candidates are patients with rising PSA levels and previously negative biopsies, or those on active surveillance.
