The MedStar Health—Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center Fellowship Program in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology

The Georgetown University / MedStar Washington Hospital Center Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Training Program is in the premier cardiac EP training program in the Washington, D.C., region. The two-year experience provides exceptional and comprehensive training in all aspects of state-of-the-art cardiac EP.

Why train here

The strength of the institutional clinical volume and vast breadth of case types ensure robust hands-on education that is rivaled by only a few select programs in the world. Trainees can expect to perform ~1000 ablations, ~200 atrial fibrillation ablations, ~100 ventricular tachycardia ablations, ~50 lead extractions, and ~1000 device implants by the end of the program.

Clinical and academic excellence

The Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship is a two-year program and is certified by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical education (ACGME). One fellow is accepted each year. Following the end of the training program, fellows are eligible to sit for the board examination in clinical cardiac electrophysiology.

Curriculum

Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship training focuses primarily on:

  • Basic and complex arrhythmia mapping and ablation
  • Device implantation, extraction, and management
  • Arrhythmia management, both invasive and pharmacologic
