About me
Ann K. Jay, MD, is a neuroradiologist, specializing in Head and Neck and Skull Base imaging, at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. In addition, she is a Clinical Professor with dual appointments in the Departments of Radiology and Otolaryngology.
At MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, Dr. Jay serves as the Vice Chair of Education, Director of Head and Neck Imaging and Division Chief of Neuroradiology. She is also an active member of the Medical Executive Committee.
For Georgetown University School of Medicine, she serves as a co-director for the Diagnostic Reasoning and Testing (DRT) medical school course and directs the 2-week Deep Dive Imaging Essentials course. Dr. Jay serves on multiple committees for the GUSOM, including as a Faculty Senate member, Committee on Students and as a member of the DEI subcommittee of the Faculty Development Committee.
Dr. Jay is passionate about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and medical education. She was selected as a Lead Coach for the Bias Reduction and Improvement Coaching (BRIC) inaugural class at GUSOM and is a member of the Racial Justice for Committee for Change (RJCC). Dr. Jay is a Vice Chair of the DEI committee of the Association of Univeristy Radiologists (AUR), chair of the inaugural DEI committee of the American Society of Head and Neck Radiologists and contributed to the creation of the IDEA Scholars (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Allyship) program.
Dr. Jay's clinical and research interests are in the radiographic manifestations of otolaryngology diseases, specifically, temporal bone and paranasal sinus diseases, and head and neck cancer. She specializes in the head and neck biopsies, and is one of the few radiologists in the Washington, DC area that performs percutaneous biopsies of lesions in deep neck spaces. As Director of Head and Neck Imaging, Dr. Jay is an integral part of the multi-disciplinary Head and Neck Cancer and Skull Base Disease Teams at MedStar Georgetown.
She has published her research in peer-reviewed journals, including Radiology, American Journal of Neuroradiology, Academic Radiology, Journal of the American College of Radiology, and Frontiers in Oncology. She has also published multiple chapters for radiology and otolarynogology textbooks. Dr. Jay serves as a peer reviewer for Radiology and RadioGraphics. Her professional affiliations include membership in the American Society of Neuroradiology, the American Society of Head and Neck Radiology, the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, the Association of University Radiologist, and the Association of Program Directors in Radiology. Dr. Jay has received awards recognizing her commitment to teaching, including the Teacher of the Year award from the residency and a Golden Apple Award from the medical school.
Dr. Jay completed the MedStar Teaching Scholar's program, graduating with the first class to complete an extended two year program. She has received certifications in two AAMC programs: Medical Education Research Certificate (MERC) program and Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Certificate program. Dr. Jay is also a part of the inaugural MedStar Teaching Academy class as a principal member of the Education leadership cohort.
Her medical degree is from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. She completed an internship in Internal Medicine at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. She then completed a two-year Neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where she stayed on as faculty before joining MGUH.
