Application Information—The MedStar Health—Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center Residency Program in Internal Medicine

Dear Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital/MedStar Washington Hospital Center Internal Medicine Residency Program.

How to apply to our program:

For the ERAS® cycle, our program will be participating in the supplemental ERAS application offered through the AAMC’s ERAS program. Applicants will be required to complete the MyERAS application, and participation in the supplemental ERAS application is optional.

For your information, we only accept applications through ERAS.

Our NRMP program #
Categorical: 1800140C0
Preliminary: 1800140P0

Please visit our program’s page on AMA’s FREIDA portal: https://freida.ama-assn.org/program/1401011097

Do you offer externships or observerships?

Given the obligations we have to medical students from the D.C. metropolitan area, we regret that we are unable to offer externships/observerships to international graduates prior to the match. After the match, we only offer such training opportunities to candidates who have matched with our program.

What are the criteria for interviews?

Applying to residency can be very expensive and time-intensive on your part. As such, we review each and every application personally.

Although we have no official USMLE score cut off, applicants should generally have passed on their first attempt. USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK and CS must be successfully completed before start of internship.

For international medical graduates, US clinical experience is preferred, but not required.

What is the deadline for applications?

The deadline for ERAS applications is January 15.

What visas do you sponsor?

Should you require work authorization to be in the United States, please note that we sponsor only J visas.

We wish you the best of luck in your endeavors.

Sincerely,

Gaitri
