Requirements include attendance at a weekly cath conference, film review conference, core curriculum and research conference. Monthly journal club, board review conference, and a retreat held in November and May allow for progress evaluation and feedback regarding the program's performance and objectives.
Simulators are available and are in the process of being updated with software that will include peripheral and structural programs.
Other educational conferences include Cardiology Grand Rounds, Fellowship Core Curriculum and ECHO conferences. Each year, the Cardiovascular Research Technology program is organized and hosted by MedStar Washington under the leadership of Dr. Ron Waksman. This internationally recognized program is held each spring and fellows participate in preparations, presentations, and organization.
Additionally, fellows present their research at a variety of national educational programs, including TCT, ACC, AHA, as well as international programs, such as ESC, Euro PCR, and PCR London Valves.
