Research and Education
Our team is heavily involved in research efforts. By partnering with Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center and The Otto J. Ruesch Center for the Cure of Gastrointestinal Cancers, we offer our patients access to clinical trials, innovative techniques, and technology that may benefit their care.
In addition to the studies mentioned below, ongoing areas of research include pancreatic cancer, gastrointestinal malignancy, biliary-pancreatic diseases, esophageal conditions, acid-peptic disease, hepatic diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, and new uses of endoscopic ultrasound.
Colon cancer study - Partnering with Indivumed for the development of a blood sample bank to assist with marker detection for colon cancer. Dr. Shocket is a Board member of the District of Columbia chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation and the principal investigator of the Colon Cancer Prevention in the Neighborhood, a community-based colon cancer screening project in Ward 5.
