About me
Dr. M. Carter Denny is a vascular neurologist and clinician researcher at MedStar Health and Georgetown University in Washington, DC. She completed her MD and MPH degrees at Tulane University in 2010. She then completed her Neurology residency at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in 2014. She then went on to complete a two-year Vascular Neurology fellowship at the UTHealth Houston in 2016.
Dr. Denny has experience providing acute stroke care in the field on the nation's first Mobile Stroke Unit and remotely using video-based telehealth technology. Dr. Denny's research interests include health equity, systems of care delivery, and transitions of care. Dr. Denny collaborated with colleagues at UTHealth Houston on the development of the Spanish-language stroke acronym RÁPIDO that is now endorsed by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. She leads the investigator-initiated STRIVE study (STroke Research Initiative to adVance Equity). She is the author of "Acute Stroke Care" (3rd edition) and several peer-reviewed manuscripts.
She is the recipient of the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Society award and the MD/MPH award for excellence. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Dr. Denny enjoys yoga, hiking, and global travel. She speaks Spanish, which compliments both her medical practice and her love of travel.
