About me
Dr. M. Carter Denny obtained her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine as well as a Master's in public health in 2010. She completed her Neurology residency at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in 2014. She went on to complete a two-year Vascular Neurology fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) in 2016.
Dr. Denny is an early career clinician researcher with interests in secondary stroke prevention, systems of care delivery, and transitions of care. She completed an NIH StrokeNet fellowship as a junior faculty member at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in 2017-2018.
Dr. Denny has experience providing acute stroke care in the field on the nation's first Mobile Stroke Unit and remotely using video-based telemedicine technology for patients in southeast Texas with UTHealth.
She is the recipient of several academic awards including the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Society award and the MD/MPH award for excellence. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.
In addition to her medical background, Dr. Denny enjoys yoga, running, cooking, and global travel. She speaks Spanish with high proficiency, which compliments both her medical practice and her love of travel.
