About me

Lauren Cosgriff, MD, is a fellowship-trained minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, and MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Cosgriff treats complex gynecologic conditions, including chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, fibroids, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts, and abnormal uterine bleeding. She uses minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic techniques to perform procedures, including hysterectomies, myomectomies, and excision of endometriosis, to achieve faster recovery times, fewer complications, and better cosmetic results. She is also skilled in hysteroscopy, offering both in-office and operating room procedures.

Her holistic approach considers every aspect of her patients’ well-being to develop tailored care plans. Committed to excellent care, she takes time to review surgical, non-surgical, and fertility-sparing options with patients and works closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide them the education, tools, and confidence needed to make informed decisions.

Dr. Cosgriff earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, graduating in the top third of her class. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she served as Administrative Chief. Next, she completed a fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at MedStar Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University School of Medicine. During her training, Dr. Cosgriff received several honors, including the Fellow of the Year Award from MedStar Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University School of Medicine, the Medical Student Teaching Award from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine for three consecutive years, and the Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology Award from the AAGL Board of Directors.
