About me
Wendy Lobo, DNP, MBA, AG-ACNP, is the Chief Advanced Practice Provider at the MedStar Health Heart and Vascular Institute. Her role involves overseeing all Advanced Practice Providers (APP) in vascular surgery at every MedStar location in the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas. In addition to her administrative tasks, Ms. Lobo manages vascular surgery patients pre- and post-operatively and attends to patients with conditions such as peripheral arterial disease, venous disease, carotid artery disease, and varicose veins at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center and McLean locations.
Ms. Lobo has a strong commitment to providing her patients with candid and transparent information regarding their medical condition. She believes that it is crucial for her patients to be aware of the factors that led them to their current condition and to explore opportunities for lifestyle improvements. Extremely thorough, Ms. Lobo explores a range of medical and surgical options (e.g., sclerotherapy for treating incompetent veins), ensuring that her patients are aware of all the potential treatments available to them. She is also dedicated to educating her patients on vascular health and disease. With a deep understanding of the importance of teamwork and practitioner excellence, Ms. Lobo takes the lead in guiding other nurse practitioners and physician assistants in their professional development to also provide quality health care.
Ms. Lobo holds memberships in several professional societies including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Society of Vascular Nursing, the Vascular Surgery Clinical, the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Council, and the Advanced Practice Provider Leadership Council.
Ms. Lobo received her Master of Science in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University. She went on to attend John Hopkins University School of Nursing to obtain a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Master of Business Administration.
Ms. Lobo is fluent in Spanish.
Philosophy of Care
“Patient education is really important to me, so I hope that my patients leave my office feeling well-informed about their medical condition. I hope that my patients say that I am kind, straightforward, and supportive. I would like referring physicians to know that I am a collaborative APP and if they send someone to me that they will be contacted and kept informed about their patients and their progress.”
