The International Observership Program at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital combines our renowned medical excellence and international influence to help us strengthen global health care by educating future generations of physicians from around the world.

The International Observership Program at MedStar Georgetown organizes educational observerships for physicians who wish to further examine specific areas of clinical interest.

Participants have the opportunity to view surgeries and procedures within assigned hospital departments, including adult and pediatric transplant, cancer, neurosciences, gastroenterology, and orthopaedics. Participants also attend patient rounds and teaching conferences.

  • Fee for physicians: $5,000 per four-week program
  • Fee for medical students: $1,500 per four-week program

Working with MedStar Georgetown International Services, observership participants take part in educational experiences that foster knowledge sharing and clinical care expertise. The four-week program is designed for physicians and medical students who have demonstrable and verifiable knowledge of the English language and who adhere to rules for observers at MedStar Georgetown.
