Welcome to the Computed Tomography (CT) Program

The Computed Tomography (CT) Program at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center Medical Imaging School of Radiology is an advanced, post-primary certificate program designed for registered imaging professionals seeking to expand their clinical expertise and achieve certification in computed tomography.

Building on a long-standing tradition of excellence in radiologic education, this program prepares technologists to perform high-quality CT imaging procedures in today’s complex healthcare environment. Computed tomography is a critical diagnostic modality that produces detailed cross-sectional images of the body using advanced imaging technology and computer reconstruction, playing a central role in modern patient diagnosis and treatment.

The CT Program is a two-semester certificate program designed for registered radiologic technologists, nuclear medicine technologists, and radiation therapists who are seeking advanced certification and career progression.

The curriculum integrates:

  • Structured didactic education aligned with ARRT requirements
  • Advanced CT-specific content including physics, procedures, pathology, and safety
  • Flexible, asynchronous learning designed for working professionals

Students will:

  • Complete ARRT structured education requirements
  • Gain knowledge in CT physics, procedures, and safety
  • Prepare for ARRT post-primary certification
  • Secure their own clinical site for competency completion

Career outlook:

CT technologists are in high demand due to increased reliance on advanced imaging and an aging population.
