Application and Match Information

The Urology Residency Program at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital participates in the AUA Urology Match, and we are seeking to fill three positions in the match. All applications will be reviewed by our Residency Application Review Committee, and interviews will be offered to qualified candidates.

Residency Application Guidelines

Applications must be complete and submitted by September 25th. Candidates must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The following documents are needed in order to have your application reviewed:

  • ERAS common application form
  • USMLE Step 1 transcript (pass/fail)
  • Osteopathic applicants: your COMLEX scores will be accepted and reviewed.
  • Medical school transcript
  • Personal statement

  • 2-3 Letters of recommendation

Visa Policy: Only J1 visas are sponsored through MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

Our interview dates for this year are:

Wednesday, November 15th

Thursday, December 7th

Applications will be reviewed beginning September 30th and virtual interview invitations will be offered on Friday, October 27th (interview offers will be extended by ALL programs participating in the match on this date). Programs have been discouraged from offering interviews before this date. On Monday, October 30th, students will contact each program to accept or decline interview offers. Tuesday, October 31st is "Flush Day,” on which students may release previously accepted interview slots in favor of any invitations offered to them off a waitlist.

Interviews are granted by invitation only. If selected for an interview you will be notified via the ERAS post office, and interviews will be scheduled via the Interview Broker platform.

Each candidate will be interviewed virtually by various members of our faculty, including Dr. Brown, Program Director, and Dr. Kowalczyk, Chair of the department. In addition, there will be 2 resident rooms, which offer an informal time to chat with our current residents about the program and D.C. life.
