The Breast Center at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center is committed to ensuring patients have access to the highest quality care—a commitment that has earned us the Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s Best Breast Centers.
Here, we believe in treating the whole person, not just the disease. Our Breast Center is home to a dedicated nurse navigator and a team of breast cancer experts highly experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with all stages of breast cancer.
Our team includes some of the region’s top breast surgeons who work hand-in-hand with other specialists to create personalized treatment plans to meet each patients’ unique needs. Every patient’s case is reviewed by a multidisciplinary team that includes a medical oncologist, breast surgeon, radiation oncologist, and genetic counselor. This approach results in treatment plans that are customized to deliver the best possible outcomes.
We also consult with patients seeking a second opinion regarding their diagnosis. Patients requesting a second opinion are seen within 48 hours, Monday through Friday. Our specialists review their medical records and provide additional input to assist them in making decisions about their treatment options.

As part of MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute, the Breast Center at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center continuously meets the rigorous standards that are required to earn recognition from some of the nation’s most highly regarded accrediting bodies. This includes:
- Accreditation with Commendation from the American College of Surgeons Committee on Cancer for more than 20 years
- Certification from the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative program
- Full accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers
- Accreditation from the American College of Radiology
Support groups
Join MedStar’s Virtual Support Group
This support group is a safe space where others walking through their cancer diagnosis and treatment can talk openly about their feelings and challenges.

Adjusting to the role of a caregiver is hard. Connecting with others who are in similar situations can be a powerful and comforting experience.
Virtual sessions are held every 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 2-3pm on Microsoft Teams.
