The Midwives of MedStar Washington Hospital Center are dedicated to the delivery of exceptional care to women and their families across the Washington, D.C. region. They are committed to achieving optimal health outcomes by offering safe, evidence-based, family-centered and individually responsive care.

We provide health care and guidance for gynecology, pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. We are independent providers though can refer to you to specialists when needed. We care for clients at two locations in the MedStar Physicians Office Building for outpatient care. For inpatient care, we care for people on the Labor & Delivery unit at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

For laboring patients, we offer all forms of pain management services. We are experts in supporting people who are seeking low intervention birth and are utilizing non-pharmacologic strategies for pain relief. For clients who desire pharmacologic pain management, options include IV analgesia, epidurals administered by our anesthesia department, and nitrous oxide (also referred to as laughing gas). We are proud to be one of the few locations in DC to offer nitrous oxide. The blend is a lower concentration from the form used during dental care and is designed so women maintain consciousness during labor- a safe, non-invasive alternative for those desiring a low-intervention birth experience.
