About me
David Field, MD, is an Associate Professor of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and is board certified in both interventional and diagnostic radiology.
A native Washingtonian and a graduate of St. Albans School in Northwest, Dr. Field completed an M.S. in Physiology & Biophysics at Georgetown and attended medical school at the University of Illinois in Chicago. After residency in Philadelphia, where he served as Chief Resident, he returned to Washington for his fellowship at Georgetown and has been on the faculty there since 2014.
Dr. Field has particular interests in prostate artery embolization, renal tumor cryoablation, and the percutaneous treatment of urinary tract obstruction. His approach to patients is centered on an understanding that care begins before and extends beyond a planned procedure and that a thorough, patient, and easily understandable explanation of an intervention is a crucial part of easing anxiety and developing trust. As part of the larger Interventional Radiology staff, Dr. Field recognizes that successful patient care involves a skilled and dedicated team rooted in mutual respect and support.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Field enjoys travel, reading, and tennis, and is a classically trained violinist. He was a Washington Consumers’ Checkbook Top Doctor in 2014-2015.
