About me
John T. Cardella, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology, and the program director for the new Interventional Radiology Residency at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Cardella is dual board certified in Interventional Radiology and Diagnostic Radiology and has been recognized for outstanding conferences by the residency program. After obtaining his undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Cardella came to Georgetown University for medical school where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his diagnostic radiology residency at the University of North Carolina and served as the Chief Resident before completing his training in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Virginia.
His clinical interests are the entire breadth of interventional procedures, including venous reconstruction and complex IVC filter removal, as well as prostate artery embolization, and the creation of endovascular dialysis access. Dr. Cardella is always willing to take the additional time needed with his patients to ensure that their questions are answered and they feel comfortable with the plan of care. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Cardella keeps busy with his young children, and enjoys hiking and biking.
