Office of GME | House Staff Information

Thank you for your interest in MedStar Washington Hospital Center's graduate medical education programs. This website was developed, not only to showcase our exceptional training programs, but to answer your questions as you search for the most suitable educational opportunity.
Since 1958, MedStar Washington Hospital Center has been a leader in residency and fellowship training. Each year, some 300+ residents and fellows develop and acquire knowledge and skills in a variety of programs. Our high volume of patients and diverse case mix allow residents and fellows to experience the extensive hands-on training they need to become excellent clinicians.
All of our residents and fellows give high marks to the quality of the education they receive at the Hospital Center. Specifically, they cite our dedicated faculty members, our access to research opportunities, our affiliation with leading medical schools, and our focus on continuing medical education as reasons why they thrive. Because the Hospital Center is an independent academic medical center, residents and fellows enjoy extensive collaboration with our community-based medical staff in a rigorous academic environment.
We understand that selecting a training program is truly one of the most significant decisions that you will make in your career. Postgraduate medical training provides the basis for your future practice and the foundation on which you will build your approach to patient care. We recognize that these years will be amongst your most challenging and rewarding, and hope that the information contained on this site will guide you in selecting the finest and most appropriate opportunity for you. Best wishes, and we look forward to working with you!
