At MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, our patients receive superior cancer care, access to clinical trials, and the latest diagnostic tests and treatments, all in a welcoming community environment.
Accredited since 1995 by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer as a teaching hospital cancer program, we offer coordinated and comprehensive care, not only to cancer patients, but their families as well. From initial diagnosis through treatment, our integrated, multidisciplinary approach results in the highest level of care for patients. Here in our comfortable setting, patients find that groundbreaking diagnostic and treatment options are standard care.
Our clinical trials program is one of the largest in the state and our physicians conduct research in many areas of cancer treatment. Patients who are eligible are offered the opportunity to participate in and potentially benefit from this research.
Plus, our program takes into account the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of each patient, offering a variety of services and therapies before, during and after treatment. As part of MedStar Health, patients have access to our extensive network of cancer specialists, who collaborate in caring for patients, further enhancing the depth of our program.

At MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, we understand that cancer care involves more than treatment. Our team offers support services designed to help patients and families navigate the physical, emotional, financial, and practical needs that may arise during care. Services may include genetic counseling, oncology social work, cancer rehabilitation, nutrition counseling, financial assistance, home care, integrative therapy, psychosocial and pastoral counseling, tobacco cessation resources, support groups, and survivorship support.
